In this presentation, Kathleen Powell will discuss the outbreak of the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918. The Flu came at a time of great upheaval as the world was in the throes of the last year of WWI and immense social change. This lecture will provide an in depth look at the Spanish Flu and how it impacted St. Catharines and its citizens. Kathleen Powell is the Supervisor of Historical Services and Curator for the City of St. Catharines overseeing the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre, the Morningstar Mill and the Lakeside Park Carousel.
